Care Instructions

2.1 Care Information - Fine Fireclay and Ceramic Wash Basins
Use a mild household detergent or warm soapy water and clean with a soft cloth.

2.2 Care Information - Marble Tops
Our marble surfaces are sealed with a high quality natural stone sealer at the factory which will protect it from staining. However, you should arrange to have your bench top resealed approximately every 2-4 years. This depends on the amount of use of the stone. For example, kitchens require 1-2 years resealing, but kitchen benches are much more high use than bathroom vanities, so bathroom vanities only require it every 2 – 4 years. The sealer we recommend is the market leader Lithofin MN Stain-Stop.

As with any product, clean regularly. Most common household cleaning products are safe to use, such as non-alkaline cleaning products, mild house detergents with warm water, glass cleaning products and any non-abrasive household cleaner. Wipe with fresh water after cleaning. Wipe the surface dry with a soft dry cloth after cleaning.

DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. If spills do occur, wipe immediately quickly with freshwater. DO NOT use oil-based cleaners, i.e.turps, kerosene etc. Avoid exposing stonebench tops to chemicals or acidic liquids such as oven cleaners, oil, paint removers, or fruit juices.

While natural marble will provide a lifetime of use, the material is inherently brittle, and you should avoid sitting or standing on these surfaces since any uneven substrate or base can cause cracking.

Do not use your counter top as a cutting board. This can cause permanent deep scratching. Avoid dropping heavy orsharp objects on the bench top as chips and cracks cannot easily be repaired. The placing of hot items such as hair straighteners directly to the bench top should be avoided.

2.3 Care Information - Fine Fireclay Sinks
As the glazed surface is extremely smooth and non-porous, cleaning with soapy water is usually all that is required to keep your sink clean. To maintain the original appearance, it is important to do a regular clean with non-abrasive cleaners and a soft sponge or cloth.

Fireclay sinks are created by firing the clay at high temperatures therefore some visual distortion may occur. This is not a defect but can be seen to add to the beauty of the product.

Water Stains from Hard Water
In hard water areas limescale can build-up on the surface and become visible when stained by food and drink. We recommend regular cleaning with a solution of 3-parts hot water and 1-part white vinegar or specific limescale cleaners can be used for example Viakal. Rinse well after. Keeping the sink dry will avoid future water stains.

General Stains
Fine fireclay sinks are glazed so are completely nonporous and should not stain. However, if marks or stains occur, they should be removed immediately with hot water and a gentle cleaning agent. Cleaners, such as Jif, can be used to remove tougher stains.

For more stubborn stains, soak a water and detergent mixture overnight, scrub off any dirt and stains, and finally rinse with water.

Light Marks
Pans, metal cutlery and cooking utensils can leave grey metal marks on the surface as the glazed finish is much harder than the metal utensils used in the kitchen. These marks can be removed using a powder compound called Bar Keeper's Friend, or similar. To prevent metal marks, a rubber sink mat or stainless steel grid can be purchased from Turner Hastings to sit in the base whilst washing metal items

Scratches
Fireclay is extremely durable and long lasting. However, if scratches or chips do occur, Cramer Repair Kit is recommended for minor damages to the sink.

Do Not Use
Fireclay sinks can withstand many chemical cleaning agents; however, it can cause damage to the wastes and taps. Below is not advised.

- Use of Steel wool, scourers or metal brush

- Harsh cleaners containing severe acidic or alkaline chemicals such as sodium hydroxide, sulfuric

acid or hydrochloric acid

- Toilet cleaners such as Chlorinated Cleansers or bleach of any type

 2.4 Care Information - Tapware & Accessories
Use a mild household detergent or warm soapy water and clean with a soft cloth. It is important that no abrasive cleaners are used, as these will remove the surface gloss of the product.

2.5 Care Information - Electroplated Metal Finishes
The hardest metal finish is chrome and all others are considered soft decorative finishes. The lacquers help to prevent fingerprints & tarnishing but they are only lacquers and need to be treated carefully. Our Metal Finishers apply a 2 pac clear automotive lacquer and should be treated as thus. Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid any harsh abrasives, thinners & glass cleaners. Best cleaning is Mineral Turpentine.

2.6 Care Information - Toilet Seats
The best method of maintaining the finish while ensuring the cleanliness of toilet seats is simply to wipe them over with a soft cloth with soapy water. It is important that no abrasive cleaners are used, as these will remove the surface gloss of the product. At regular intervals the tightness of the seat to pan fixing kits should be checked, as continual loosening over time does occur.

Birmingham high gloss painted toilet seats: Take extra care, we recommend cleaning with warm mild soapy water - do not use any chemicals direct on the seat - and always dry with a cloth.

2.7 Care Information - Acrylic Baths
To preserve the polished surface, after using your bath, clean with a soft cloth and warm soapy water to wash away any body oils or soap residue. Do not use powders, pastes, thinners, window cleaning sprays or dry cleaning liquid.

2.8 Care Information - TitanCast Baths & Basin
Clean your bath with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. As a weekly cleaner we recommend any suitable sanitary ware liquid cleaner. Rinse the surface clean immediately afterwards. Do not allow any liquid cleaner to stand for extended periods as this may stain the bath depending on the type of cleaning product. Stubborn marks and fine scratches may be removed with the Scotchbrite pad provided with your bath. Should you need to disinfect your bath, a weak bleach solution may be left to soak for 20-30 minutes. Do not use powders, thinners or dry cleaning fluids.

Gloss Finish

To preserve the polished surface, clean your bath with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.
Stubborn marks and fine scratches may be removed using 1500-2000 grit water paper. Follow this by polishing with a car burnishing compound and soft cloth.

Satin Silk (Matte) Finish

Clean your bath with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.
Stubborn marks and fine scratches may be removed with the Scotchbrite pad provided with your bath.

Damage Prevention

Always run hot and cold water simultaneously into your bath or vanity. Water temperature should not exceed a maximum temperature of 60°C.
Deliver water (mixed hot and cold) to the lowest point of the bath which is at the waste area
Avoid contact with strong chemicals and solvents (stain removers, nail varnish removers, etc)
Wipe away any chemical spillages ie. Hair dye, as soon as possible to avoid potential staining.
When coloured essential oils are used, first test that the colour will not stain your bath. If it does, a burnishing compound will remove it.
